Reflections Today

Today marks a very important day in the history of the world. I can
imagine that on this same day many years ago, Judas betrayed Jesus
on what started a series of events that will eventually lead to the
salvation of mankind. Its amazing how events turn out, I wonder what
would have gone through the minds of Jesus’s disciples when he had
the last supper with them and told them that one of them would betray
Him or how Judas felt after he had betrayed his master. The guilt, the
failure and sometimes I wonder if it was possible for him to actually
change his mind not to betray Jesus.

Today I would like to share a story, one that I think we could learn from.
There was a certain woman traveling to another country. She was at a
very large airport and she had some time to wait before passengers would
be called to board the plane. She got to a book stand, bought a book and
a pack of cookies. She then proceeded to the VIP lounge and sat down to
read her book and wait for the call to board the plane. Read the rest of this entry »

Peace

Its the start of a new month. The beginning of the second quarter
of the year 2009. Its a time to re-evaluate our goals and how
much progress we have made in achieving them. Its also an
opportunity for us to check what has worked for us this year and
what we need to change. Doing the same thing over and over and
expecting a different result could be seen as insanity.

A lot has happened over the past 90 days. Some events have
happened that I wish I could change,  while other events have
brought joy and happiness to my life. A balance of trials and
victories makes life a lot more interesting and worth living. Read the rest of this entry »

What I want to write today is an article I will love you to pirate. I’ll like you
to dub it, and put it on your blog post. Modify it if you like, give me credit if
you want, or give me none at all. They say we’ll achieve a lot more if we
don’t care who gets the credit. Read the rest of this entry »

Perceptions

This week has been a great week. At the beginning of the week, I
was so positive and believed so much in the possibilities that were
ahead. So far, it has been awesome and I got even more excited
after getting insight into some opportunities that exist around me. I
realized that the way we think, has a lot to do with what our reality
will be. So I encourage you to be positive and send out those
positive vibrations, you will be amazed at the results.

I read in the papers today about a final year student in University of
Lagos who was sentenced to 19 years imprisonment for obtaining
$27,900.91 from an Australian woman. He also forfeited the money
he made from the scam as well as the land and the car he bought with
the proceeds. He pretended to be a 57 year old man deceived the
woman that he was involved in an accident and needed money for
treatment. Read the rest of this entry »

The Son

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They
had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They
would often sit together and admire the great works of art. When
the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very
courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The
father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son.

About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at
the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in
his hands. He said, “Sir, you don’t know me, but I am the soldier
for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day,
and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the
heart and he died instantly. Read the rest of this entry »

The Making of a Recession

This story is about a man who once upon a time was selling Hotdogs
by the roadside. He was illiterate, so he never read newspapers. He
was hard of hearing, so he never listened to the radio. His eyes were
weak, so he never watched television. But enthusiastically, he sold lots
of hotdogs.

He was smart enough to offer some attractive schemes to increase his
sales. His sales and profit went up. He ordered more and more raw
material and buns and sold more. He recruited more supporting staff to
serve more customers. He started offering home deliveries. Eventually
he got himself a bigger and better stove. As his business was growing,
the son, who had recently graduated from college, joined his father. Read the rest of this entry »

Just Words

I got a mail a couple of months back that I found very interesting.
This morning, I was in the car with my boss and he read the same
mail out. The tongue possesses awesome power, we have to be
careful what we say. I had a deeper understanding about what the
mail was all about and thought I should share it with you.

Death is certain, but the Bible speaks about untimely death. Make
a personal reflection about this statement and the foregoing will
give you clear direction of the significance of this stories. It is
written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): “Be not deceived; God is not
mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Read the rest of this entry »

An Open Cheque

A Managing Director called one of his employees and said to
him, “look, Today I will be handling all of your problems.
Please remember that I do not need your help, and whenever
you have a really tough situation that you cannot handle, do not
attempt to resolve it. Kindly send me an email with the details.
I will resolve the situation, but it will be done at my time, not
yours.”

He went on saying, “Immediately the email is sent, do not hold
onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful
things that are present in your life now. If you find yourself stuck
in traffic; Don’t despair. There are people in this world for whom
driving is an unheard of privilege. Should you have a bad day at
work; Think of the man who has been out of work for years. Read the rest of this entry »

Prepare Yourself

There are clear indications that indeed the political landscape
in the country is evolving. Recent happenings clearly point out
that fact. The 2007 elections no doubt was marred with various
irregularities and electoral malpractice’s. However the President
Yar’Adua led Government has shown its commitment to reforming
the process that brought him into power.

The judiciary has played a crucial role in ensuring the enthronement
of a Government of the people, by the people and for the people.
The independence of the Judiciary as well as the present
administrations neutral stand on the outcome of the election tribunal
and the various court judgments shows that we could actually have
systems that work. Read the rest of this entry »

Seven Days

I woke up this morning with a lot on my mind. I read a statement
from a book or a news print and I can’t pick where exactly. This
statement changed my perspective on a number of issues and got
me thinking, what really is important in life. The thought kept going
on in my mind and I shared it with a friend.

I wanted to get as many perspectives on this issue as possible so
I decided to put my thoughts into words and see what exactly
will be your reaction to this question. What would you do if you
knew you had just seven days left to live? When I asked a friend,
he was calm at first and after a while he gave me an answer that
was kind of general. He said, “most people would try to make it
right with God”. Read the rest of this entry »
