Why I Marched
Today I had the privilege and honor to walk with other Nigerian’s
under the umbrella of the Save Nigeria Group, who are tired of the
status quo and are saying ‘enough is enough’. From Ikeja GRA all
the way to the Governors office we marched chanting songs and
demanding for a better Nigeria.
Leading the march were some prominent Nigerian’s including Tunde
Bakare, Femi Falana, Yinka Odumakin, Ndubuisi Kanu, Adeolu
Akinyemi and a host of others. What started out as a group of about
1000 and increased as we moved along the streets of ikeja en route
the Governor’s lodge. Why did so many leave their homes and their
jobs to engage in this mass protest? I will tell you why I did.
I marched because I believe I have a voice and regardless of how
those in power say that our voice doesn’t count, it actually does. It
is my constitutional right to ask for a better governance. There is no
standing on the fence here, I’m either for the present Government and
their illegality or am not.
If you keep quiet, it implies that you are in support of what is going
on presently in our country-the fuel scarcity, epileptic power supply,
insecurity and chief of all, a Nation without a President. So if you think,
‘it doesn’t affect me because I can still go to work, church and the
market’. Think again, if we do not act now we will have nowhere to
go to.
Finally, and the most important reason why I marched was for my
children. I marched so that they will never go through the horrors
that we as a Nation are currently facing. I think I owe them that
much.
Let’s in our own little way save Nigeria and tell all those who are
standing in the way of progress and development that ….
Enough is enough…
