A Lion among Lambs

lion-and-sheep

This story blew my mind and I couldn’t help but write it down for that one person who will get inspired and start believing in his or herself again. There is so much within you that one life time will not be enough to fully express it all.

A hunter set out one beautiful morning to hunt. This hunter went up and down the jungle and did not find any animal. after a long search, he decided to go home. On his way home something caught his attention and he immediately decided to stop and take a closer look.

The hunter saw a young cub, the baby lion had apparently lost his way and was detached from his family. He had compassion and decided to take the young cub home. He took the cub and when he got home put him among his sheep in their pen. The lion grew up with the sheep, ate grass with them and became a sheep ‘by association’-our association determines who we become over time.

On a certain day, the sheep went out with the lion as they always do and stopped to drink from a stream on their way. As they drank from the stream, they heard a big lion roar from the other side and at that moment the sheep took to their heels and so did the young lion.

When they got home, the leader of the sheep told the young lion to always run from the big lion because they eat sheep. The young lion who was still shaking from this experience nodded and went to rest. The next day, they set out again and stopped at the stream for a drink. As the young lion stretched to take a drink, he saw a lion in the water and ran away immediately but this time he was the only one running from his own reflection.

He turned around and went back to that same stream and as he bent down to take a drink, he saw two lions in the water. Afraid and too scared to move, he looked by his side and found the big lion beside him. The big lion roared and spoke to him saying,’why are you walking with sheep, you are like me-a great lion’. The young lion couldn’t move but he saw the resemblance. The lion asked him to roar, and the young lion tried but he couldn’t since he was only used to bleeting like a sheep.

He tried again and again and he couldn’t, the big lion got so angry and pounced on the young lion sinking his claws into his skin. All of a sudden, something from the inside of the young lion came alive and the lion roared loudly. Then the big lion asked him to do it again and he did. After that, the big lion went towards the forest and roared asking the young lion if he was coming.

The young lion looked back at the security of where he has always been, under the protection of the shepherd. He imagined how life will be away from the pen, alone in the wild where he would face uncertainties. He knew that the only way he could live out his true potentials was in the wild where he was designed to be king. He roared one last time and went into the wild with the big lion.

You might have been among sheep, but it doesn’t change the fact that you are the king of the jungle. You have greatness within you. A fish doesn’t learn how to swim neither does a bird learn how to fly, once its wings are able to carry it, it flies. Man is the only creature that looks outside to know who he really is. Look within and discover who you really are …. more than a conqueror.
