Making Today Count

“What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny compared
to what lies inside of us…” Ralph Waldo Emerson

I haven’t written an article in a while now, i really don’t know
how to start. A couple of weeks ago, I got this note that really
inspired me and helped me view each day differently. There
are days I wake up and make plans on what I intend to achieve
and set out to make them happen. Some days it goes well, while
other days things don’t just seem to work. It is on such days that
we need to remind ourselves that our attitude to every situation is
what really matters.

I woke up this morning and asked myself one question, how can
I make today count? What must I do to make a difference? I
discovered that its not about changing the whole world but its
about changing from within and making deliberate efforts to get
the right attitude because making today count involves everything
I do.

In getting the right attitude, I must understand that like everything
else, I must attend to my attitude daily. Make the necessary
adjustments to areas that need to be looked at. I must also think
and act like the person I want to be, place a high value on people
and develop a high value for life.

I also believe that staying positive would help me a lot. So how
do I remain positive? I could try finding something positive in
everything. It may not always be easy, but if I try hard enough
I can find something good, even in the midst of difficult situations.
I should find someone positive in every situation. Two positive
people are much better at fighting off the blues than someone
going it alone. I should say something positive in every conversation.
I should remove negative words from my vocabulary and express
gratitude to others daily.

Every new day brings with it a different challenge and an opportunity
for us to learn a new lesson. Thinking about the good things helps us
to be grateful. Remaining grateful helps us have a more positive attitude.
And having a positive attitude prompts us to think about the good rather
than the bad. Lets make today and every day count.
