Farming on Gold

I heard a story about a young man who is like most of us. He
had dreams and aspirations to be great and successful in life.
This is a righteous aspiration and every human seeks to live a
better life. He grew up in a village and didn’t have as much
opportunities because his parents where poor, he however
struggled to survive.

His parents died and left him a large parcel of land. This was
his only inheritance. He however was not too happy with the
land because the land was not productive. He could not sow
and harvest any crop like his fellow farmers in the village. His
wife was very depressed and suggested to him that he should
sell the land and move to the city.

This was a very difficult option. The land was supposed to be
a farm land and no farmer will buy an unproductive land. So
they kept their fingers crossed and waited for someone who
did not have as much experience who would buy the land.
After a while, a young man came from out of town and
indicated his interest in buying the land. This was a miracle for
the young farmer and his wife, they had waited for this moment
for sometime and it finally came.

The buyer was offering eight hundred thousand Naira for the
land. This was a wonderful offer for the farmer and his wife.
They immediately jumped at the offer so that the buyer doesn’t
change his mind. He paid them and they made their move to the
city to search for opportunities. They settled in the city and the
young man started out looking for jobs and vacancies. Months
went by and the money they got from the sale of the land gradually
got exhausted.

He moved from place to place and was unsuccessful. He was
so broke that he had to meet a friend and asked him for a loan
so that he could at least feed his family. His friend turned him
down because he did not have a job, so could not guarantee
that he will pay back. His friend however advised him to go
back to the village. The young man was furious and inquired
why his friend will give him such an advice.

His friend told him that the man he sold His land to was a
geologist and had discovered gold on the land. He therefore
started mining operations and is employing people. He advised
him to go back and ask for a job there, and since he sold the
land to him he might be generous enough to give him in the job.

Most times we might be sitting on a gold mine and because we
have not discovered, we pray for a blessing we already have.
It takes grace to find our purpose and even more grace from
God to fulfill that purpose. We were all created for a purpose
and to solve a unique problem on earth. Find your purpose and
fulfill your destiny, the world awaits you.
