Emergency Response
The response to my previous post on Gabriel Murdi have
been overwhelming. I appreciate all your comments and
responses. It goes to show that Nigerian’s truly desire change
and we will indeed get it. Once there is a burning desire for a
change in the status quo, that change is inevitable as long as
we put our minds to it and work towards it. I attended
Madonna University which happens to be the same institution
where Gabriel graduated from.
On Sunday, I was at my school re-union. Top on the agenda
was the death of Gabriel Murdi. A minute of silence was held
in honor of Gabriel. I met with a number of old friends and
also spoke with the National Vice President of the association.
He informed me that he led a delegation to the burial of Gabriel
Murdi. Gabriel was the first son of his family.
He also informed me of plans by the association to take the
case up. The first step will be to write a petition to the Governor
of Delta State as well as the Commissioner of Police. Plans are
also on the way to write the House of Assembly on this matter.
I believe that things will never be the same again as long as we
begin to take responsibility.
The New Naija Club on its own part has unveiled plans to start
a campaign to save the lives of victims that are in a life and death
situation. The club intends to partner with hospitals to make
payments on behalf of patients who are faced with a life or death
situation. Most often, family and friends are able to make payments
for their loved ones but are not there in cases of emergency.
The Club intends to reduce to the barest minimum the number of
lives that are lost in such emergency cases. There are a lot of
people who are doing similar things all over the country. We need
to stand up as one people and fight to bring down the walls that hold
us back as a Nation. We have to bring down every limitation that
hinders us.
Our values as African’s and Nigerian’s gives us an edge to be the
greatest Nation on earth. As Nigerian’s we can visit family and
relatives unannounced. We have at one point or the other stayed
with one uncle or Aunt. We have very strong family ties and are
bonded together in more ways than one. I believe in a new Nigeria
and I believe that we are almost there.

Nice one it shows that we still have good spirited people in this country. Ogor thanks a lot for the way you have brought this to the fore.
I believe in the new 9ja, with want is going on…I hope we’ll get there soon, keep doing it right!
Cheers
Thanks Ogho, for giving us the feedback. I’m happy to read of the action plans and initiatives to prevent further occurence of such incidence. Thumbs up to New Nigeria Club for rising up to the occasion to prevent further loss of lives, its a great idea.
Weldone my brother, keep up the good work and remain blessed.
This is a positive response to this sad situation. I will appeal to the Madonna Old Boys Association to follow through to a logical conclusion what they have planned to do to address the ugly incident. This is the type of change we are talking about in our society. We have to start taking up responsibilities for our brothers and Sisters.
Dear Good Spirited Friend,
As a Rotarian i v always believed that this world is a global village which Nigeria is part of,and we that believe i know God will v mercy on us someday.
Please continue the good work.
Godbless
Greg.
