I listened to the wordings of a song by R Kelly, “the Storm
is Over” today. I have heard it over and over before, but today
was different. It made me see things differently. There’s nothing
that can be more demoralizing than the absence of hope. When
you are down and faced with challenges, you have two options.
You could give up and stop trying or you could be hopeful and
fight to the end.

Every once in a while, we are faced with negative situations that
tend to hold us back. I want to refer to them as the storms of life.
This could be financial, spiritual, social or moral. Our attitude or
reactions towards these situations determine the outcome. I
choose to stay positive and this always help.

I have been in situations where I felt like giving up. Every possible
thing that could go wrong, went wrong. There was so much I had
to deliver on in terms of work and also I had financial obligations.
Every where I looked lead to a dead end. I had no idea where to
go or what to do at the time. I was getting weaker by the day, but
I kept a smile on my face knowing that the darkest part of the night
was when it was getting to morning.

I hoped for an instant miracle, the kind where a genie appears
and grants my three wishes. One would have been enough under
the circumstances but that didn’t happen. I turned to God and
asked for His help. I wished I could just wake up and everything
would be fine, all the problems would just disappear. This was far
from the case.

I was feeling so lost, holding on to a thin thread of hope and
keeping faith in God’s promises. Just at the point of breaking,
something happened. My eyes opened to the opportunities around,
they had always been there. All I had to do was just see them and
it takes your being under pressure to be moved to see these
opportunities. Carbon under pressure produces diamonds.

At that point, regardless of all what had happened, I just knew that

the storm was over.
I could see the sunshine
Somewhere beyond the cloud
I could feel heaven over me
and I was set free

I learnt one vital lesson. Getting out of a situation depends totally on
you. The minute you set your mind free and believe in your heart that
the solutions has come, then it will indeed come. You do not have to
make conclusion based on what is happening around you. All you have
to do is see beyond the situation. You do not have to see the solutions
before you start confessing positively about the situation. As a man
thinks, so is he.

You may be facing or might face a challenge that seems to be never
ending and without a solution. Always remember that you have two
options. You could give up and keep going down at the slightest
challenge or you could stand up to the challenge and fight it down
with all you’ve got. History only remembers those who showed up
during the big fights and did not give up.

I pray for everyone reading this that the end has come for whatever
challenge you might be facing. The storm is over and the sunshine has
come. Your light will shine to a brighter day.
