Stock Market Update 14/7/2008
The previous week saw a decline in both the market
capitalization and the all share index. The market recorded
a turnover of 5.77 billion units of shares exchanged among
investors for N42.12 billion Naira in 88,146 deals.
The banking sector was responsible for most of the activity
in the market accounting for 71.84% of all transactions. The
insurance sector came behind accounting for 26% of the
activity after being highly traded last week. The price of the
stocks in the insurance sub- sector where low hence the low
turnover in value and high turnover in volume
