The Legend Of the Cherokee Indian
The world is full of varieties. Diverse people and cultures. This
makes life so exciting and adventurous. There is so much out .
there to explore and discover. One can go over a lifetime
discovering amazing new things. A friend of mine told me a
story about an interesting culture of a particular tribe of Indians
that I like to share with you.
The Legend describes how a Cherokee Indian youth passes
from being a boy to becoming a man. In order to pass the test,
the boy’s father takes him to the middle of the forest just before
night fall. He then blind folds him and leaves him alone in that
forest to spend the night all by himself.
He is required to sit on a stump through the night and the blind
fold must not be removed for any reason until the rays of the
morning sun shines through it. He can not cry out for help from
anyone since there was no one to call to. If he survives through
the night, he becomes a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys
about his experience because each lad must come into manhood
on his own.
The boy is naturally terrified, he’s alone and can hear all kinds of
noises. Wild animals might be close by, there might be hunters or
other humans who might harm him. The wind blew the grass and
the earth, his stump shook but the boy sat stoically, never removing
the blindfold. This is the only route that he must take to become a
man.
Finally, after a horrific night, the sun appeared and he removed
his blindfold. It was then that he discovered his father sitting on
the stump next to him. He had been at watch the entire night
protecting his son from harm.
This was an interesting discovery for me. I was wondering how
the boy would survive. However, the discovery brought a lot of
relief to me. Some times in life, you might feel you are alone and
nobody cares. But when you take off the blindfold, you will be
amazed at what you will discover.
We are never alone. Even when we don’t know it, God is
watching over us, sitting on the stump beside us. When
trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.

Selah…. That was a great one from Rev Emore. Keep writing, we are reading.
Keep it up!
If becoming a man is through blind floding and letf in the forest to past the night.
that mean we will have a terribule world to live in.
Thank God for his mercy and loving kindness toward this world.
