The girl in my life.
Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one mother the wide world over.
~George Cooper
I can remember the look on her face when I got back home
and told her I had lost everything. I could see the pain in her
eyes. I never wanted to make her sad, so that look moved
me to tears. Those who have read “All things work together
for good Part 1 & 2″ will have a picture of what I am talking
about. For those who have not, its the story of how I lost all
my credentials.
I believe that apart from being a mother, there is also a special
love and care she has for me. She has always been there for
me, in good times and in bad. She encouraged me to be the
best I can be and most importantly she believed in me. Through
all the tough times she advised me to do the right things and
was always praying and encouraging me. She gave me a reason
to go on.
There was a day I did something wrong and my mother tried
to correct me by spanking me. I was so angry and she saw it
on my face. She looked at me and said,”Are you angry because
I am trying to correct you”. She said it so calmly that I felt the
love behind her actions. She taught me how to survive and
she is responsible for the man I have turned out to be.
There were so many times I wished I could help her when I
was a child, there were other times as I grew older and I did
not have the means that I hoped to help her, and now I know
I will give my all to make sure she has all she wants in life.
However I came to realize that she was not and is not
interested in what I can give but in how she can help me
achieve my goals and dreams. Her joy will be that I become a
better man and this is what she wants for all her children.
The realization of this made me wonder. How selfless can a
woman be. She makes sacrifices for me on a daily basis.
I can never re-pay her or quantify the love care and affection
she has showed me over time. It will be a white elephant project
to try and do this. Mothers are so patient, mine is because she
could withstand me. She sees only the best in me and helps me
develop my weaknesses.
Today is mother’s day and I will like to appreciate my mother
who is the best mom in the world and my other mothers who
have also shown me love and affection. And to all the mothers
in the making. Our world was empty until you came and gave
it life. From the bottom of my heart, I say “Happy mothers day”.
A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of
pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for
pie. Tenneva Jordan
