In the beginning when the Almighty was creating the nations
of the world, He made it imperative for the nations to rely on
him. He therefore gave them a handicap so that they will
always come back to him for help and remember their creator.
He made it clear that He will not respect any one or any nation.
When He was creating the United States and California in
particular, He gave them a little earthquake so that when they
are getting high on their Oscars and Emmy awards He will
shake them a little and they will remember Him. He
also gave the coastal regions tsunami’s to shake them up a
little and bring them back to Him.
To the Philippines, He gave mud slides, the Chinese with their
great numbers that nearly doubles all the time he gave floods.
He did this all through the nations, Every great nation with a
handicap. Read the rest of this entry »

You don’t have to go 360 degrees all you need is 180 degrees.
A full turn around will take you back to the same direction. You
don’t have to climb to the top of Mount Everest to find what
you are looking for, the answers you seek are within you. All
you need is to open your eyes to the world around you and it
will amaze you how close by your answers are.
A man got to a restaurant and saw a sign that read, “eat all you
can, your grandfather has paid”. On seeing this, he was so
excited and wondered if this was for real. He then started
ordering for everything he could eat. After several rounds of food
and assorted meat he was finally through. He stood up to leave
and he was stopped at the door. Read the rest of this entry »
I was in a television program today with my boss to speak on
the topic ‘Integrity as a tool for nation building’. Interestingly
this is in line with one of our values in the New Naija Club.
We believe that we should be responsible enough to stick
to our words. Our words and our actions should be seamless.
We leverage on peer accountability, where your actions are
check mated by the next person to you.
I closed late one day and I was on my way home from the office
at about 10 pm or there about. I got to the traffic light on Allen
round About in Ikeja and I stopped because the light was red. The
car by my side stopped and as cars came along, they all queued up
behind us. Let’s have it at the back of our minds that at this time, all the
security personnel had closed for the day and there was no one to
check for offenders. The wait for the light to turn green seemed like
eternity. Read the rest of this entry »

Let me start by thanking God and everyone who has played
a role in making me who I am today. My family and my dear
friends and most especially my mother. If it was not for you,
there will be no me. I will also like to apologize for the wrong
things I have done in the past. For everyone I have hurt,
especially those who have given their all so that I can be who
I am today.
I have learnt a lot in the past few days that I will like to share
with you. You will find out that it’s the little things that really
cause the big earthquakes. The butterfly effect which shows a
scenario where just by the flapping of the wings of a butterfly
in Africa, a chain reaction is put in motion which causes an
earthquake somewhere in Europe. I will share a few of these
things in the next few lines. Read the rest of this entry »

“Success is a journey not a destination”
Ben Sweetland
A lot is going through my head right now as I sit here trying
to develop a power point presentation for a program which
is holding tomorrow. Its a seminar aimed at equipping heads
of schools and senior teachers on adapting to the changes that
are occurring around them. The world is flat, in other words
the world has become a global village.
Remaining relevant in a flattening world is essential for success.
This brings us back to the main point, what is success to you?
I used to fantasize and wish that I wake up one morning and
find myself in a beautiful mansion and have a garage with exotic
cars. There is nothing wrong with all this, however there is a
process for all this and being successful is a process. Read the rest of this entry »
One of the things that brings Nigerian’s together is football. You
could see the excitement in the air when our National team is
about to play a match. It is at moments like this we see beyond
our tribal, political and economic differences. At this point we are
a whole and not divided by any of our interests. Football has been
one of the sources of Joy to the average Nigerian. Even when
individuals find it difficult to eat or clothe themselves, they find
fulfillment, especially when our team wins.
Sports in Nigeria is gradually being infected by the disease which
has eaten deep into every sector of our economy. Lets use
football as an example, a former coach of our national team,
Clemens Westerhof made a statement that I learnt a few things
from. Our performance in the last nations cup was the worse so
far in the history of Nigerian football. However Clemens
Westerhof said that for Nigeria to win the world cup, they
should employ himself and Stephen Keshi. Read the rest of this entry »
I heard an interesting story about a man who wanted to buy a
parrot. He went to a shop and saw three parrots and he inquired
from the shop keeper how much they cost. The shop keeper
pointed to the first one and said “this one cost $50,000″. The man
was surprised and asked what was special about the parrot. The
shop keeper explained that it could speak various languages, English,
Spanish, French and has the capacity to learn any language provided
the parrot hears it.
The shopkeeper went further and pointed at the second parrot. “this
one cost $100,000, he could speak a variety of languages and in
addition understands and dictates computer programming language.
The man could not say a word. The shop keeper then pointed at the
third parrot and said “this one cost $200,000″. Read the rest of this entry »
With a population of over 140 million, Nigeria stands as the
most populous black nation in the world and also the largest
nation in Africa. As at 2004 we had 25 federal universities, 15
state universities and 8 private universities in Nigeria, as well
as five university centers (NUC 2004). This number has
increased over the past four years. These institutions graduate
thousands of young Nigerians every year.
These graduates then proceed for a compulsory one year
national youth service. After the service year, the real journey
into life begins. Less than 30% of this number are gainfully
employed at the end of the service year. This process is repeated
every year and the same percentage is employed each year and
the number of unemployed youths increases in geometric
progression as the year goes by. Read the rest of this entry »
It was a Tuesday morning, the weather was perfect and John was
making the best out of what was left of his life. He just returned
from the hospital the week before and was diagnosed of having a
fatal heart disease. He had made up his mind to live the rest of his
life as it comes.
He was walking past a book store and decided to stop and buy a
book. He got there and at the reception he saw a beautiful young
lady. Life immediately got back into him. He was filled with
excitement and went ahead and bought a book. He paid and then
handed it over to the receptionist who then gave him a receipt,
packaged it and gave it back to him. Read the rest of this entry »
