Malcolm Arthur Stace

I read this story and reflected on two things. Leaving a legacy and where do we go from here? I will leave you to read and ask your questions. However I am certain that this story will touch your heart and provoke you to action. What this action will be is entirely up to you.

Arthur Stace was born in Sydney, Australia. The child of alcoholics, he was brought up in poverty. In order to survive, he resorted to stealing bread and milk and searching for scraps of food in bins. As a teenager, he became an alcoholic and was subsequently sent to jail at 15. In his twenties, he was a scout for his sisters’ brothels. Read the rest of this entry »

Staying Ahead

The reality of what is happening in the banking sector as well
as the economy is only a prelude of things to come. All sectors
will feel the ripple effects of what is happening now. At times
where resources seem to be too little and needs seem to
increase, there is the need to have control over your resources.

There are some who will never have to worry about the economy
and this is where we need to be. Regardless of what happens
around us, all we need to do is be equipped to face whatever
situation that confronts us. Read the rest of this entry »

Why I Marched

Today I had the privilege and honor to walk with other Nigerian’s
under the umbrella of the Save Nigeria Group, who are tired of the
status quo and are saying ‘enough is enough’. From Ikeja GRA all
the way to the Governors office we marched chanting songs and
demanding for a better Nigeria.

Leading the march were some prominent Nigerian’s including Tunde
Bakare, Femi Falana, Yinka Odumakin, Ndubuisi Kanu, Adeolu
Akinyemi and a host of others. What started out as a group of about
1000 and increased as we moved along the streets of ikeja en route
the Governor’s lodge. Why did so many leave their homes and their
jobs to engage in this mass protest? I will tell you why I did. Read the rest of this entry »

2010: Possibilities

It’s my first post this year and there’s so much I want to write about. I’ll take it one step at a time. From an Outlook into the year 2010 financially to the crisis rocking our Nation over who really is in charge, and everything inbetween. I’ll like to start with this story, one which I believe will make a difference in someone’s life and help you see the lessons in every challenge you might find yourself

A lady was driving along with her father. They came upon a storm, and the young lady asked her father, What should I do?” He said “keep driving”. Cars began to pull over to the side, the storm was getting worse. “What should I do?” The young lady asked? “Keep driving,” her father replied. Read the rest of this entry »

A Word of Advice …

18-advice-post-it

here seems to be an uneasy calm in the Presidency for the past few days over the health of our dear President. I would have loved to drop a line or two here but will take the advice of the Senate President and continue to pray for the quick recovery of President Yar Adua. I read in the papers (Punch) 2 weeks ago about a visit by the Venezuelan Ambassador to Nigeria Mr. Enrique Arrundell, to the Minister of Information and Communications Prof. Dora Akunyili. The purpose of his visit was clear from the beginning, that the Nigerian Government should take responsibility for the refineries and other resources available in the nation. A Lion among Lambs

lion-and-sheep

This story blew my mind and I couldn’t help but write it down for that one person who will get inspired and start believing in his or herself again. There is so much within you that one life time will not be enough to fully express it all.

A hunter set out one beautiful morning to hunt. This hunter went up and down the jungle and did not find any animal. after a long search, he decided to go home. On his way home something caught his attention and he immediately decided to stop and take a closer look. Read the rest of this entry »

Hope

Two separate events occurred yesterday morning that touched my
heart and gave me reasons to believe again. To believe not
only in the possibilities an emergence of a New Nigeria but
also that this will happen in my time and the change will
be quick. Soon we will forget that there was ever a time
when corruption ruled our country.

Today is not the day to point fingers and lament about all
the things that have gone wrong. It’s not the time to feel
sorry for our country, rather it’s a time to be grateful for
the great things that are happening amidst so much wrongs.
I will start with the first event which has made headlines
on all major newspapers and which I’ll say will send shivers
down the spines of all those who will share a similar fate. Read the rest of this entry »

Dreams

Tagged Under :

A young man died and went to heaven. On getting there, he was excited and
thrilled with what he saw. However he was curious about something and
decided to ask an angel a question to satisfy his curosity. He asked, ‘who
was the greatest man that ever lived?’. The angel smiled and pointed at a
young man.
The young man looked at the man the angel pointed to in shock and said,’I
know that man, he was a labourer in my neighbourhood back on earth. How can
he be the greatest man that ever lived?’ True the angel replied, but he was
supposed to be the greatest General that ever lived. He was to command the
greatest army ever assembled and do great exploits.
The story tells a picture of untapped potentials that exist in most of us.
You might want to pity or even question the man for not activating what
was lying inside of him. Before you do that, look within and ask yourself
if you are actually maximizing your potentials. I have and I know am not
doing as much as I should or have the capacity to.
I remember clearly a scene from many years ago. My brother always wanted
to be a pilot and also join the Airforce. He used to talk about it a lot
and my mom always encouraged us. We were at the market one day and my mom
was talking to some of the traders who were her customers. She told them
jokingly that they should be careful how they sold things to her cause her
son would soon become a pilot and might blow the market up.
Each time she went to the market, they’ll always ask for her son “the pilot”.
I guess we all have similar stories. When we were asked in school what we
wanted to be, you would hear professions like doctor, engineers, lawyers,
accountants, bankers, nurses, super heroes and so many other things we could
dare to imagine. We had great dreams of what we wanted to become and nothing
seemed impossible or out of our reach.
I can’t recall anyone saying they wanted to be a driver or a cleaner or a
truck pusher. These were completely out of the picture. Looking back at our
answers then, what happened to those dreams? Some are living out their dreams
right now, but others are not. Most of us got into a pre-defined circle of
life where you go to school, graduate, get a job, get married, give birth to
children who will repeat this cycle and then pass on.
The story above tells me that there is a purpose for my life which is much
greater than my life. It’s something I was designed to accomplish. There are
certain things I have built in me (personality type or temperament) that will
make it easy for me to accomplish this assignment. If you are reading this and
you live your life each day as it comes, have a re-think and search within
yourself to discover your purpose. If purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.
Think about those dreams you used to have and go all out to achieve them cos in
reality everything is possible.

Making Today Count

“What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny compared
to what lies inside of us…” Ralph Waldo Emerson

I haven’t written an article in a while now, i really don’t know
how to start. A couple of weeks ago, I got this note that really
inspired me and helped me view each day differently. There
are days I wake up and make plans on what I intend to achieve
and set out to make them happen. Some days it goes well, while
other days things don’t just seem to work. It is on such days that
we need to remind ourselves that our attitude to every situation is
what really matters. Read the rest of this entry »

The Big Heart

I have been on a little break. This break gave me the time to
evaluate a number of issues and most importantly find answers
to some pressing questions. Well, that’s for another day. I just
came back from Abuja where we had a number of financial
empowerment seminars. It was a good trip, saw some old
friends and made some new ones.

I am currently in Warri. I have not been here in a while and I
must confess, a lot has changed over the years. I got in very
late last night and the sight was beautiful, street lights on most
major streets brought out the beauty of the town. I guess a
lot of other developmental strides are going on around the
state and I am eager to see it and talk about it. Read the rest of this entry »
